What is triphala and what is it made of?

Triphala is an ancient ayurvedic herbal medicine that has lots of health benefits. It is made out of 3 different fruits, namely Indian gooseberry, black myrobalan, and belleric myrobalan. Ayurvedic practitioners believe that this herbal remedy can help balance the physical and mental state of the human body while treating multiple ailments. Medically defining triphala is a combination of antioxidants like vitamin C, saponins, tannins, flavonoids and polyphenols along with anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. It has been found to heal skin cells, help with digestion and bowel movement and increase immunity among other health benefits. Triphala is commercially available in the form of powder, paste, tincture, tablets or capsules.

Except for tablets and capsules, the other form of Triphala can be mixed with lukewarm water to consume.
